LAM House is founded by Kelly KaWai Lam, a Chinese conductor based in New York City who is passionate about bringing classical music closer to the audience. Lam has conducted orchestras and choirs in New York, Boston, London, Beijing, Paris and Kiev.
Her performances blend human themes such as love, death, and happiness with her questioning of the evolving place of classical music in today’s world. Lam’s grounded and direct approach to conducting liberates the complex layers of music into meaning and experience for her audiences.
A graduate of Harvard College and University of Cambridge, Lam continues her conducting studies under Dr. Mark Shapiro, Dr. Philip Lasser for composition, Jeanne Golan for piano, Catherine Mazzone for voice, and Dr. Kyle Blaha for ear training, musicianship and theory.
